This is a special year for Latvia – our first centenary! This has served to motivate us to finally achieve our long-cherished dream - a web page for everyone facing the most common neurosurgical diseases.
Neurosurgery.lv (neirokirurgi.lv) is a website designed to help patients and their relatives who have encountered a disease of a neurosurgical profile to get easy-to-understand information about the nature of the disease and its influence on one’s health and wellbeing, it can also provide an insight into the treatment options and general prognosis. This information is in no way a substitute for a visit to the doctor’s office, however, it can help to prepare for one. It can also help to recall any details obscured by the white coat syndrome.
We have carefully analyzed and summarized multiple evidence-based medical information sources and combined them with our own extensive experience and common clinical sense to create each of the descriptions found on this website. Medicine is an ever changing subject, that is why the information available here is being constantly updated to reflect the most current developments and trends. This website may also prove itself useful for our colleagues - general practitioners, neurologists and physicians of other specialities, who may need or want to quickly familiarise themselves with one or several medical conditions of a neurosurgical profile.
